PREPARING YOUR CHILD FOR The
sacrament of reconciliatioN-
come back to me RESOURCE
Dear Parents and Carers,
Though it pains you when your child does wrong, it does not stop you from loving them. When you forgive your child, the child learns how
deep your love for them is. In this way you are also teaching your child about the depth of God’s love for them. The forgiveness you show your child means that they are able to learn about the love of God: a love that is shown by the forgiveness they receive in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. By confessing to the priest, the child learns to be honest about their failings, and in recognising their failings they open their hearts to experience the forgiveness of God.
These resources will help you prepare your child for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, but your loving forgiveness of your child is the most important preparation.
May God bless you and your child as you work together preparing for this sacrament.
With my prayers and good wishes,
