"I want a laity, not arrogant, not rash in speech, not disputatious, but who know their religion, who enter into it, who know just where they stand, who know what they hold and what they do not, who know their creed so well that they can give an account of it, who know so much of history that they can defend it.”. (Bl. John Henry Newman)
Continuing to learn
For many people, their last experience of learning about faith seems to end when they leave school. The idea of taking time to study, read or engage in a formal situation of learning about faith is squeezed out in our busy lives of work, family, parish and social interests.
However, we know we go on thinking about our faith in all kinds of ways: going to church, listening to a homily, reading newspapers, chatting with friends or trying to find answers to the questions of children or curious friends.
This page offers some ideas for engaging in continued study about the faith - resources and courses to use at home for study and reflection, websites to visit, courses available in the Archdiocese to explore the faith with others or hear from speakers with particular expertise.
