The Scottish Catholic Education Service and the Archdiocese of Glasgow have been working in partnership with local authorities to develop an integrated approach to leadership development for aspiring Catholic school leaders.

This work complements and extends that undertaken by SCES and Dioceses to offer Newly Qualified Teachers and Newly Appointed Heads of Establishment Induction programmes and conferences to support them in their new roles.

The new initiative focuses on the different Standards and stages of Professional development, as defined by the GTCS, and encourages aspiring leaders at all levels to consider their knowledge, skills, understanding and formation as a Catholic leader.

In working in partnership with Local Authorities, the Church aims to strengthen existing good practice and broaden the opportunities for Catholic leaders, including those currently within non denominational schools. 

The aim of this initiative is to integrate a Catholic approach to school leadership into existing Local Authority courses and programmes, so as to better support and equip those discerning their role as a Catholic school leader.
