Charities
Supporting charitable organisations is an integral dimension of the life of the Catholic school. It is important, therefore, that the charities which are supported reflect the mission and values of the Catholic Church. When deciding which charity to support care should be taken to ensure that the values and goals of the organisation are consistent with the values and goals of the Catholic school. Many popular charities may be directly involved in, or offer financial support to, bodies which fund activities or research that do not, for example, respect the dignity of human life from conception to natural death. It is for this reason that Catholic schools do not participate in Red Nose Day or Comic Relief. Oxfam, in many ways does good work, the organisation however, promotes contraception and access to abortion which is in opposition to the teaching of the Catholic church.
