Secondary One
Click on the buttons below to download an overview of the broad themes and scripture passages in S1.
These are intended to help give a sense of the 'big themes' within S1 and should always be considered in conjunction with the detailed core learning contained within Section 4 of This Is Our Faith.
Click on the button below to download one example of a year plan for Religious Education in a Catholic school. There are many different models for planning R.E. across the school year and each school will find one that best suits its context.
This model uses the four pillars of the Catechism (Faith Professed, Faith Prayed, Faith Celebrated) and the liturgical year of the Church. In this example, R.E. is overseen by the R.E. department, however it is delivered in a number of ways by a variety of people in a whole school context.
On the pages that follow you can see examples of each of the units delivered within class. These units have been devised using the Core Learning from This Is Our Faith as their starting point.
The template used for recording planning has been devised by SCES and the National Association of Roman Catholic R.E. Advisers.
All units use the latest advice from Education Scotland on the planning of learning experiences to incorporate Learning, Teaching and Assessment.

As with the year overview, these lesson outlines are shared as one example of how to plan using This Is Our Faith.
We hope that this website will become a resource for all staff to dialogue, share and moderate their planning.
