Primary 4: The Liturgical Year:
There is a 3 year Cycle in the Liturgical Cycle
Year A focuses on the Gospel of Mark and then the Gospel of John - Mark is the shortest Gospel.
Year B focuses on the Gospel of Matthew.
Year C focuses on the Gospel of Luke.
At Christmastide and Eastertide we read from the Gospel of John.
Lent and Eastertide in Primary 4 focuses on the Paschal Mystery, that is, the Death and Resurrection of Jesus.
This assists the pupils in their understanding of The Eucharist by exploring Passover, The Last Supper and the Easter Triduum in more depth.
Please see the resources for Son of God Strand in P4 for suggested ideas, lessons and approach.
Helpfully, the Liturgy of Lent, Easter and every Mass teaches and supports the learning here.
Lent lasts for forty days beginning with Ash Wednesday.
This does not include Sundays which are seen as mini- Easters, feast days of the Resurrection.
Eastertide ends with the great Feast of Pentecost, fifty days after Easter.

Introducing the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist:
All the sacraments draw us to the Eucharist which is the summit and source of the Christian life: in the Eucharist we hear our story retold and are given strength and inspiration to take the Good News to the world.
This is our Mission as Catholic Christians: to share with joy the reason for the hope that is in us.

Full directions on how to make a First Communion Banner can be found at Catholic Icing. This project should begin at the turn of the year - beautiful........

Hours of God
A Traditional Scottish hymn to honour Mary:
The sun is shining brightly The trees are clothed with green The beauteous bloom of flowers On ev'ry side is seen And all the world is gay For 'tis the month of Mary The lovely month of May There's music in the heavens For birds are singing there And nature's songs and praises Are sounding through the air With joy we'll sing today For 'tis the month of Mary The lovely month of May And when night closes o'er us And twinkling stars appear The chaste moon calmly reigneth In skies so bright and clear In heaven far away There reigns o'er saints and angels Our lovely Queen of May |
